"we have seen countries collapse when they start to put the poets into jail. what remained of russia. nothing. when they started to shoot the poets and killed the artists - they finally collapsed. why did they collapse, what was so wrong? because they completely cut the tree, the roots of what is growing." by zvi hecker
The remains of the Berlin Wall can still be seen as a metaphor for still existing walls in people´s minds, between cultures, religions. The design of a centre for encounter directly next to the former Berlin Wall, works with its linearity that is broken up, that explodes while touching the wall. Flying roofs, the broken platforms offer different views and experiences to their visitors. The autonomy of the building is the autonomy of thoughts.
