Art and Architecture at Kielder, the commissioning programme of the Kielder Partnership, is building an astronomical observatory on Black Fell, a hill close to the Scottish border and overlooking Kielder village in Northumberland.

The finished facility will take advantage of the area’s lack of light and air pollution and help to evolve the current use of Kielder by astronomers, enabling more people to develop their interest in astronomy throughout the full course of the year.
