The basis for individual diploma projects was the development of a masterplan incorporating several research studies on the island of Lanzarote. Our group analysed the island´s tourism concept and worked out several strategies to improve social, economic and cultural issues, concerning the city.

Lanzarote seems to have the potential of a city, a city with a lot of landscape in between. The smaller towns have each different potentials which are, seen as a unity, very muh equal to the potentials that other cities in the world have. Lanzarote should become a system of functional elements which is reactive to changes and allowing multiple solutions. This flexible urbanism should allow both contradiction and heterogenity. The tools we developed can be applied both on a global scale and down into the house itself.
