class for design, 2007

edited by gabi schillig and maria blaisse /summeracademy salzburg

To help to find your very own source of inspiration - that was the aim of this workshop, taking place at the Summer Academy of Visual Arts in Salzburg in 2007. There was space for each participant to experience an individual understanding of the simplicity of shape and movement and to achieve maximum personal expression. A thorough exploration of the qualities and structures of nature provide an insight into the specific laws of our environment that help build particular structures, fibre for fibre and layer for layer. Consequently, movements brings them to life.
The first phase of the course consisted of working with natural materials on a small scale; in the second phase, materials were used to transform the things to be found; the third phase, dealing with form and movement, was recorded on video. Photography was an important part of the process.
